NAUTILUS

Hand-dyed cotton canvas

I wanted to distill the complexity of a curled nautilus shell into a garment formed by a single pattern piece. The pleats and spiraling center seam reflect the gently flared curves of the shell interior, while the cone shape and stiff cowl neck provide a feeling of protection; a place to recede from the world.
